Melissa and Mike’s New Orleans destination intimate wedding was freaking awesome. There is just no other way to describe it :) Melissa is such a fun and unique individual that I’ve had the pleasure of knowing for years. She and I met while we were both still in high school attending the summer Governor’s School for the creative writing program before we both went to Winthrop University. During our college years she met Mike – a dashing young man who stole her heart pretty much instantly. The moment I met Mike for the first time I knew Melissa had found her soul-mate – he was so kind, so passionate and so full of life! Ten years – to the day – after they first met they were married in a truly New Orleans style intimate wedding. I had the absolute honor of being there for the weekend to enjoy the festivities, hang out with their friends and family, and celebrate a decade of true love for two amazing people!
From a charming rehearsal dinner at the famous Court of Two Sisters to wondering around the streets of New Orleans while capturing portraits of the two of them enjoying the historical and gorgeous city – the day before the wedding was full of so much joy and anticipation for their wedding the next day. Then on Saturday – in true Melissa and Mike fashion they decided to run a 5k together before the wedding! Both being avid runners it was the perfect way to kick off the celebrations. Mike crossed the finish line – first in the male division – with his hands raised in the air shouting “I’m getting married today!” with Melissa following not too far behind him, her father running alongside her smiling ear to ear.
Back at the enchanting Frenchmen Hotel, Melissa and Mike dressed seperately then met together for a romantic first look on the private rooftop balcony. Soon a horse drawn carriage whisked us all away to the French Quarter Wedding Chapel where Melissa and Mike exchanged their vows under a canopy of vintage lamps and dollar bills signed by hundreds of other couples married in the same chapel. In true New Orleans fashion we gathered our beads and umbrellas to march through the historical streets of New Orleans in a second line. The music, the dancing, the congratulations from the crowd – it was all to celebrate Melissa and Mike’s becoming husband and wife! We ended the evening with dinner at Oceana Grill then a walk to Cafe du Monde for some famously delicious beignets.
Melissa and Mike – thank you so much for the absolute honor of capturing your New Orleans destination intimate wedding! The support and love that you two share for one another is truly wonderful. New Orleans was the perfect place for you two to start this amazing new chapter in your lives!
