Are you ready for Alex’s New York Jets dream experience this Giving Tuesday? :) If you’re a reader of my blog, you’ve probably seen my previous posts about Dream on 3, a Charlotte area charity organization founded by two of my dear friends with the goal of creating unique experiences where children who have chronic illnesses, developmental disabilities, or life-altering conditions have their sports dreams come true. I’m honored to be a proud sponsor of the organization and officially part of their Dream Team.
This dream experience was so special for so many reasons and one of those is because it was for our first female dream kid – Alexandra (“Alex”) Lamparter! Alex, a 16 year old who dreams of one day becoming a doctor to help others, was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma earlier this year. Even though she has had a tough battle with this very rare bone cancer you would never be able to tell – Her smile is contagious and her laugh is infectious – she is truly a ball of positive energy! And her sports dream? To attend the opening day New York Jets game at Met Life Stadium in New York City and meet some of the players – a task all of us at Dream on 3 were ready to tackle for her : )
On Friday September 5th, Alex thought it was just going to be a normal Friday night at her high school football game. Little did she know members of the Dream Team were sneakily hiding around her Clover High School football stadium preparing to surprise her with her official dream experience send off – Blue Eagle style! With the help of Clover High School, Dream on 3 was able to huddle together and give Alex a unique sendoff during the football games halftime show – including a performance from the high school marching band, dance team and even a limo on the football field with all of her friends and teammates!
Our trip to NYC for Alex’s New York Jets dream was truly amazing! Not only were we so excited to make Alex’s dreams come true, but we also had a wonderful time getting to know the entire Lamparter family! Their hope and fight for Alex is truly an inspiration, their unique bond is admirable, and their humor is downright silly and fantastic…we LOVE the Lamparters!
Alex – thank you for inspiring all of us at Dream on 3. Your passion for life and dreaming big is truly amazing – we are so proud of you, honored to know you, and will always be a part of your Army!
Special thank you to all the amazing local and national organizations and donors who helped make this trip so amazing for Alex, her family and Dream on 3!

The sendoff was only the beginning though – early Saturday morning we were all off to NYC to begin making Alex’s dreams come true! And there was no time for reality to set in – the moment the plane landed Alex and her family were whisked off to the New York Jets training center for a private tour and meet/greet with some of her favorite players – including Eric Decker! We didn’t think Alex could smile any bigger, but she surprised us all :) She casually talked with the players, they all gave her positive encouragement, she gifted them with custom made “No one fights alone: Alex’s Army” bracelets that were designed by her mother, and there were plenty of hugs to go around!
After all the excitement of meeting her favorite players Alex thought that was all Dream on 3 had planned for the day…but that’s just silly because of course we at Dream on 3 always have something up our sleeves :) That evening we surprised Alex with dinner at Hard Rock Café in Times Square…with all of her family from New York! It was a sweet family reunion complete with great food, a tour of the historic NYC building and ended with a private balcony view of the awesome bright lights of Times Square. Not a bad way to end our first day in NYC!
As luck would have it…and completely what we call “dream mojo” as we did not plan this…the New York Jets were staying at the hotel where we were staying as well! Sunday morning we all woke up and went downstairs for breakfast and were lucky enough to have additional opportunities to hang out with the players Alex met on Saturday (Eric Decker, Ryan Quigley, Zach Sudfeld and Tommy Bohanon) all of who stopped for more hugs and autographs for Alex and her entire family. More players continued to come and meet Alex, her siblings and their parents – including Geno Smith, Michael Vick and Chris Johnson. Talk about awesome luck!
Once we arrived at MetLife Stadium the magic continued. From a shopping spree in the New York Jets store to hanging out on the sidelines for pre-game warm ups – the entire Lamparter family was treated like royalty from the New York Jets organization. Alex’s smiles continued to get bigger and bigger…her dreams had now officially come true…Dream on 3 style!
